Summer Reading 2018

One of the things I love the most about summer is picking out books for my summer reading list. The last couple of years I’ve taken the time to read more books. I had a period in my life where I never picked up a book, and I realised that I needed books in my life to relax and feel inspired and happy. Now I’m always in the middle of a book or finishing one – and I love it. As soon as I read the last word on the last page I go to my bookshelf and pick out the next one. I also keep a page in my notebook just for book titles that I would love to check out. Then once in a while, I go online and read more about the books on my list. Some of them then end up in my home and some I delete. But I always keep a list. How do you keep track of the books you want to read?

Summer Reading List 2018

Braving the Wilderness by Bréne Brown
Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris
Hormonal by Martie Haselton
How to be Happy by Eva Woods
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Wild Power by Alexandra Pope
The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo
Womancode by Alisa Vitti
The Last Mrs Parrish by Liv Constantine

These are some of the books currently on my wishlist. I always check out Instagram, The New York Times book section, Amazon, and Pinterest when I start to browse for new books. I always find it inspiring to see what others are reading right now. Lately, I’ve actually been looking at Reese Witherspoon’s Bookclub account on Instagram for inspiration. I hope these 9 books have inspired you to go and check out some of them and that you’ll get the time to read a book or two this summer. I know I’ll be waiting for some of these books to arrive in the mail within the next couple of days. Let me know if there’s a must-read-book that’s missing from my list. I’m sure you get what kind of genre I’m into by now.

Summer in the garden

Yes, summer is finally here. I don’t know about you guys, but I was more than ready for a bit of summer. Not sticky hot, but just a bit of warmth and a reason to eat outside in the garden. We’re slowly getting an idea of what we want to do in the garden this year. We’re, let us be honest, not garden people, but we love a bit of coziness and hygge outside with friends. The fact that our garden is rather big, and the old lady downstairs can’t do anything out there anymore, well we don’t have enough time, or passion to do a total makeover of the garden alone. Hopefully, a nice family will move in downstairs next, and then we can work on the garden together.

Whenever I’m trying to decide something in relation to decorating, I usually end up creating a board like this one. It helps me bring together all the elements, and then I can show my husband my ideas. He gets tired of my numerous pins on Pinterest. So I guess this is the perfect solution. For this board, I had a look at Ikea’s website for inspiration and added a few extra things.

Summer in the garden – Shoppinglist:

Solvinden lamp – These I simply love!
Olive tree – I might just have a go at this one again this year
Salladskål ‘plat ladder’ – This is pretty cool if you ask me
Solvinden LED lamp
Lavendula plant
Citrus plant
Living by Heart Outdoor candle
Bonfire

And the most important thing, when you return with all these goods – make an Aperol Spritz and relax in your for a bit before assembling the things. There should always be time for a bit of hygge while working. I’ll soo if I can snap a few pictures of our garden when I’ve done a bot of gardening and decorating. Hopefully, I’ll be happy with the result.

Mother’s Day Wishlist

We won’t have time to celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Both kids will be playing soccer and one of them has to get up way early to help serve breakfast for the many tournament participants or clean up after them. For the past years, it has been a fantastic weekend filled with good people, sunshine and lots of kids playing soccer.

But a girl can dream, right? That is why I’ve decided to collect a few things from my wishlist – just in case someone needs inspiration. And if I’m not the lucky receiver, then I hope I can inspire you instead.

Here’s a little helping hand for those in my family reading – and the rest of you can use this list as inspiration or shopping list if you please.

Molekyl – the most amazing candle holder to hit the shops in a long time.
Miild Organic Mineral Bronzing Powder – This one has been on my wishlist for quite some time. Let’s go shopping family 😉
Light Break Print – I first spotted in the Danish tv series GreyZone – and some nice ladies on Instagram helped me find it online. It’s sold out at the moment, but the shop owner promised that it would be back in stock soon.
A new stand for my MacBook Pro – I really need to take better care of my body, and on top of my list is a stand and a new Magic keyboard along with a Magic Trackpad 2.
Pink Marc Jacobs Mini Grind Crossbody Bag – I love everything about this bag.
Coffee Box of Samples from The Barn Coffee Roasters – I absolutely love love love when I have coffee from this place in my own home.
Miild Organic Mineral Concealer Duo – Along with the Bronzing Powder this would be perfect in my bag.

Online invitations made easy & beautiful

[Sponsored post] I was given the opportunity to try out Paperless Post. For those of you not familiar with it, it’s a company providing beautiful online invitations for everything from birthdays, weddings, parties and more. They’ve teamed up with some pretty amazing designers like kate spade new york, Oscar de la Renta, Liberty Fabrics, Marimekko, The New Yorker, Vera Wang, Meri Meri, Jonathan Adler and Rifle Paper Co.

I first noticed the company at the beginning of 2017, when I received an invitation from a Danish design company. To me, it was the wow-factor that made me look into Paperless Post back then. I was excited to be given the opportunity to try it out for myself.

I’ve used the invitations on a smaller scale to make invitations for this year’s Easter brunch. Since we’re not about to celebrate any bigger events this year, I won’t have the chance to try it out on a larger scale just yet. However, I plan to use it for Save the Date cards for my daughter’s confirmation. I know she’ll love designing and personalizing her invitation. I love the fact that people can check out the guest list and keep track of who’s attending and who’s not.

To give you an idea of just how many different designs you can pick from, I’ve collected some of my favorite ones. And remember, you can also personalize the invitations and add your own pictures. You can change just about everything from the text colors, the patterns inside the envelopes (the envelope opening is, by the way, a cool feature in itself).

Check out Paperless Post and create your very own cool invitations. I’m sure you’ll find an invitation that’ll suit your taste and your event. At the moment I plan to use the invitations for my son’s birthday, for the occasional brunch or G&T evenings and who knows – maybe there’ll be a summer party or two on the list as well.

Cool Spring Boy – what to wear?

I’m so ready for my cool spring boy to get out there again. We’ve been out of the game for a couple of days due to the famous flu – it’s been especially hard on our little guy. It’s tough when he’s lying in bed, not eating and with glazy fever eyes.

At times like this, that’s when I long for spring the most. No more winter flu but days and nights filled with expectations and wishes of a warm summer.

I’ve been looking for items to add to his wardrobe. Just a little bit. I actually find it pretty hard this season. I really hope, I’m just too early, otherwise, it’s gonna be a tough season to get through. I know it’s always harder finding cool clothes for boys, but it’s never been this hard.
