Advent – what to buy for the kids

I had way too many plans this last week, so I got a bit behind on the posts here on the blog. Therefore,  I’ve decided to combine two posts that I had planned. I wanted to do a post full of gift ideas for my 7 year old little guy, and then one for my tween. Due to lack of time, I’ll show you what I ended up buying for them instead. I had a hard time picking out the gifts for my little guy, but I found the last one yesterday. Now they are all wrapped up and ready for next Sunday. How about you, are you ready for Christmas?

Advent – what to buy for your man

We only buy advent presents for the kids in our home, primarily because my husband isn’t too pleased with the idea in the first place. He thinks the kids get enough presents in December already. But I love each Sunday, because I think it’s special waking up to a small present, and then play with it afterwards. I think it’s an okay compromise, and I would rather buy four bigger presents than 24 small ones for each day.

Even though, my husband isn’t into it at all, I’ve still got a long list of things I would have bought for him – had he been into it. I hope the gifts I’ve picked out will inspire you – and hopefully your man will be happy, when he opens it on a Sunday before Christmas.

Are you ready for four Sundays of advent?

5 books or magazines to read this winter

book-and-coffee-print-etsy

Winter reading is one of my absolute favourite activities. Snuggling up in the sofa with a good book and a warm cup of coffee – that’s magical – just like the print says. I’m reading books more than I’ve done in years – and I’m loving it. I look forward to all the books I’m going to read this autumn and winter. I’ve got everything from fiction, cookbooks and magazines on my list right now.

My top 5 winter reads

A Little Life – Hanya Yanagihara – I’m reading it right now – and loving every page of it
Green Kitchen Smoothies – David Frenkiel & Luise Vindahl – I’ll make some delicious smoothies from this book all winter
After You – Jojo Moyes – It’s about time I find out what Lou’s been up to after Will died
Kinfolk vol 21 – a great source of inspiration
Cereal City Guide – Copenhagen – lovely city lovely guide book

A Sosterne Grene Christmas

The Christmas catalogue has landed. As some of you are well aware of, I’m quite a Christmas fan. I love decorating the house, love the cozy atmosphere, love baking with the kids and love finding small advent presents. For me it’s not really Christmas, if I haven’t been to Hamburg in late November/start december. There is something so cheesy, and yet so wonderful about all the Christmas markets and activity in the city. It’s the perfect way to kick off a wonderful season.

One of the other ‘before Christmas traditions’ that I’ve got is to go to Sostrene Grene quite a few times. I always buy something from their Christmas collection, and this year is no exception. Today I want to share some of my favourite items from this year’s collection and their Christmas catalogue.

Getting ready for winter – mom edition

Today, I’m getting ready for winter – it’s the mom edition. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone, when it comes to being last in line, when it’s time to buy practical stuff like warm clothes for the winter? I’ve made sure that the kids will be fully dressed and ready for winter – check out my kids edition from last week – and now it’s my turn.

What to add this year?
This year I need to add a few things to my wardrobe. I’ve got the basics covered. An okay winter jacket – even though it’s a few years old, I’ve got warm boots as well. However, I would love to upgrade just a bit. I want to add both practical pieces, which I know will keep me warm and dry, but I also want them to look good. That’s the eternal problem, if you ask me.

Getting ready for winter – kids edition

A few days ago I read that it would be a very cold winter here in Denmark this year. I’v bought some things to prepare the kids for the cold weather, but I’ve still got a few more things on my list before I’m fully ready for snow. Over the years I’ve tried lots of different brands when it comes to kids clothing. I’ve found a few favourite brands, which I know will keep them warm and dry during the winter season.
