A charming room for a kid

It seems like the never ending story around here. When you think you’re done with the kids’ rooms, then it’s almost time to start re-decorating again.

Okay, I’m partly to blame, I know. I tend to find cool new solutions, and then I want to implement some of them in their rooms.

But apart from my ideas, we haven’t found the right storage solution either. We keep trying new things, but after a while, we get tired of it. It’s either too big, too small, too (insert word), I’m sure we’ve tried it all.

The beds are another problem. It would be so practical if our daughter had a bigger bed, with storage underneath. A cool solution for our son’s room would be a bed like the one in this apartment. It would create the space he needs on the floor, and he would have a nook underneath, where he could have a TV or something similar.

VIKTIGT – New limited edition collection

I’m over the moon about the new IKEA VIKTIGT collection. IKEA has teamed up with Swedish glass and ceramic designer Ingegerd Råman for this one.

The VIKTIGT collection ranges from handmade glassware to furniture woven from natural fibres. The items will be in IKEA stores in May 2016. I’ll be first in line to check out some of the things. I especially love the furniture collection, which I would love love love to add to our home. The sofa is really high on my wishlist, so I really hope it lives up to my expectations, when I see it in my IKEA store in May. Below is a collection of some of the items, which made my heart beat a little faster.

What about you – did you find something interesting from the new collection to add to your home?

Picking out clothes with your tween – a wishlist

I mentioned earlier that my little girl turns 10 years old this month. She’s starting to care more about which clothes we buy, and she likes to try out different outfits. It’s so adorable seeing her grow in size, but also as a person.

Clothes girl

I’ve collected a few pieces of clothing from her wishlist, all of which she carefully picked out herself.

1. Blouse with lots of stars from Petit by Sofie Schnoor
2. Nitela limited slim fit jeans from Name it
3. Cloud bag from Zara
4. Cool ‘leather’ jacket from Zara
5. Misty grey Alaine jeans from Molo
6. Cool black boots with some pretty cool details from Zara
7. Peggy Knit from Soft Gallery
8. Super cute bag from Zara – I might have to get one for myself as well

Want Wear Need Read in January

Baby it’s cold and white outside, but I love it. I’m wrapped up in numerous layers of clothes, whenever I leave our home. There is nothing like a big warm knitted cardigan. My kids are having a blast. They can play outside in the snow all day long. Then they return with red cheeks and eyes full of joy, and then it’s time for a hot cup of tea and a board game or a book. It truly is a wonderful time of the year.

I’ve got a blog classic for you today, which I for some reason haven’t tried yet. But there’s a first time for everything. Here’s my take my Want Wear Need Read in January.

Want – This month I can not stop thinking about the new confetti wallpaper from ferm LIVING. It’ll be in stores in a few months time, and I’m so tempted to give this smartwall wallpaper a go.

Wear – Safety first, right?. That’s why I love the Reflective badge “Oreflector”, which shines in the dark. The Oreflector comes in different sizes and different colours – perfect for the whole family.  “Wear “Oreflector” without ruining your outfits and without being run over” <3

Need – We still haven’t found what we’re looking for in terms of a lamp for our stairway. I’ve had my eyes on the Grenade lamp, designed by Alvar Aalto, for quite some time, but I’m still not sure it’s the right lamp for that corner.

Read – January means lots and lots of reading, and I’ve found the coolest bookmark for my books. The finely-cut metal bookmark from Octaevo is shaped like a pair of stylish sunglasses – isn’t that cool?

When your little girl turns 10 – wishlist

Next week I’ll have an amazing 10 year old daughter. I can not believe it. Good thing I had her while I was still at university, otherwise I thing I would be feeling slightly old right about now.

gifts for the birthday girl - wishlist

Next thing I’ll know, she’ll be running around town with her friends, going to the cinema without an adult, and before I know it, she’ll be going to parties (while I lie awake all night, of course). Hopefully, she’ll still be the reasonable young lady then, who knows right from wrong (and acts accordingly). I love her to pieces.

With her birthday, another problem arises. What should we buy for her? It’s kind of a special day, so we should get her something special. I’ve collected a few things from her wishlist. I know she’ll get some of it, but we’ll have to wait and see about the rest.

1. Truly beautiful ‘Strokes’ bed linen from Sirlig
2. Tape block from Hay
3. Black Pocket Organizer from Normann Copenhagen
4. Blabla Kids Apple pillow from Lirumlarumleg
5. Party decoration via Poppytalk
6. Love quote via Danish Streets
7. Toilet purse mini pebbles from Soft Gallery

Inspired by fashion

Last week I was inspired by the fashion industry. It all started when I found a very interesting book Love Style Life by Garance Doré. I’ve been reading about it here on sfgirlbybay, and I felt very inspired and had to read the book. It’s now on my wishlist – I don’t know how long I can keep it there without buying it.

Then a few days later, I came across a video on YouTube, where Alexa Chung reveals fashion industry secrets. If you’ve got an hour, you should check it out.
