Champagne Home in Sweden

I was looking for inspiration the other day, and I found this cute little home in Gothenburg. While looking at all the beautiful details, I actually started looking at all the champagne bottles. Suddenly I got the urge to hop in a car and drive to France and buy bottle after bottle. I wonder if my husband would feel the same?

When we planned our wedding reception back in 2007 we wanted a fancy wedding cake and lots of champagne. We were students back then with a little girl and didn’t have enough money for a big wedding party – but we wanted to splash out on these two things. I haven’t regretted it one moment. It’s still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Some people didn’t understand our decision, but I loved the fact that we didn’t care. It was our party, and that’s how we wanted to celebrate the day with friends and family.

But somehow the champagne bottles haven’t been that big a part of my life since. Of course, we drink a few bottles on New Year’s Eve every year and on special occasions. However, I would love to pop a bottle on a Saturday night as well. I think I’ll add “drink more champagne” on my life goals. That’s not a bad plan if you ask me.

Back to the apartment

I should also add a comment about the apartment – it’s only fair. The styling of this small home is pretty impressive if you ask me. It’s a small apartment, but it’s got everything you need. I cannot help but admire the smeg fridge. I’ve loved it forever, but now I’m not so sure I would actually buy one for our kitchen. I’m convinced that our old fridge will be the next thing to go in our home. So I’ll have to decide sooner than Iater. I’m also in love with the old rustic door. What is your favourite part of this home?

Townhouse inspiration & wishing you a Happy Friday

Wow, I’ve been looking forward to this Friday for a while now. Not that the last couple of weeks haven’t been interesting – in fact, they’ve been some of the best weeks in a long time. But today it’s vacation time!

It’s time for our Easter break. We’re not going anywhere – we decided to cancel Hamburg this year – in favor of going all in on our trip to London later on. So we’ve got a week ahead of us, filled with family time, visiting friends and family and just relaxing and enjoying some time off. It’s actually kind of perfect.

The home tour I’ll leave you with today, well it’s been open in my browser for quite some time, and every time I click on it, I fall in love with this townhouse all over again. I hope you’ll feel inspired too. Have a lovely weekend <3

Meet SPÄNST – a collaboration between IKEA & CHRIS STAMP

Meet SPÄNST by Chris Stamp and IKEA. Now this is a collaboration I’m looking forward to. It’s minimalistic, cool and very street. For SPÄNST IKEA has teamed up with U.S. fashion designer Chris Stamp. I hadn’t heard about Stamp before, but I’ve been reading up on the guy. In an interview with IKEA Today he said:

Fashion and furniture are different animals but the creative process is similar. You have to burn to be good. You have to be inspired and be able to inspire people around you. The tricky part, whether you’re designing a hoodie or a shoe rack, is to get the details right. The details tell people what your brand is all about and make your product exciting and sought after.

I love this way of thinking. I love it when I discover that little extra attention to details. That’s when I know that the person behind has actually given it some thought.

As always, I’ve collected some of the things on my wishlist – and I cannot wait to hit the nearest IKEA store in the beginning of May and check it all out in real life. Hopefully, I’ll find bring a few of the items with me home. I’ve got my eyes set on the indoor basketball net, it would be so very cool in my boy’s room along with the fluorescent lamps. I think I’ll bring home the throw pillows for our sofa. We’re always in need of at least one more in order for it to be real cozy. The good news is that most of the items fit my criteria of always being “movable” – I mean that in terms of the possibility that the object can be used in every room in our home.  Check out the entire collection here – the text is in Danish, but you can still check out the items.

So what have I been up to lately…

say yes pink

Not blogging that’s for sure. But I’ve missed it so much, and it’s the same every time I take a break (voluntarily or not) I end up missing this place a lot.

For the past 3 months, I’ve been studying to get a diploma in Digital marketing and getting numerous Google certifications. It’s been hard work, and last week I aced the exam. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find a job within this field of work. I’m willing to work freelance, part time and full time, I just really want to contribute to something meaningful. So if you know anyone, got a small business yourself or you’re looking to hire someone like me – check out my profile on LinkedIn. And let’s have a talk.

Making room for storage in our daughter’s room
Apart from studying, I’m also planning a bit of a project at home. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be redecorating our daughter’s room (again). Due to some minor problems, we need to remove her closet and give that corner some air. Therefore, we decided to go with the solution we picked for our boy’s room. It’s simple, looks amazing, and perfect for storage. We’ve bought the cabinets from Ikea, and our hallway is now filled with boxes, waiting to be assembled. Great when we’ve got a few birthday parties coming up.

I still remember seeing this blog post many years ago and loving every detail of it the cabinets. It took me some time, but I finally convinced my husband that it would be perfect for our boy’s room. Since we’re doing something similar in our girl’s room, well we haven’t regretted it once. Now there’s just the hard work ahead of us – but I cannot wait to decorate and add some finishing touches in there. I hope it’ll last a bit longer this time around.

Bathroom details from Ikea

Yesterday, I came across this grey Godmorgon bathroom cabinet from IKEA, which I really like. I’ve been looking at different solutions for our bathroom for years. I dream about doing it all over again. I would love to be able to see our touch and feel our ideas in there. I know that I would enjoy it every time I walk in there. I would love once and for all to change the 90s feel to it, and make it more simple and fit for a family of four.

Having bought a home, which a father and his son renovated in the early 90s, well lets just say, I could make a long list of things that either doesn’t work in reality, or looks horrible. Little by little we change all these things, and hopefully we’ll get to the bathroom in 2018. If not all of it, then at least make a few small changes.

I’m not crazy about the table top solution, or to be honest, I would have to have a look at in real life to make up my mind. But for the past two years, I’ve been dreaming about making our own table top. First I was crazy about a concrete one, but I think I’ll end up with something a little lighter.

But now I know, what to look for the next time I’m in IKEA.

Home inspiration for your weekend

wall via planete deco

It’s time for some real home inspiration again. I’ve been focusing a bit too much on the lifestyle part of this blog lately, and I haven’t shared some inspiring photos of lovely homes in a while.

But today is the day. I’ve collected a few favourites for you, and hope you’ll start your weekend full of inspiration. As you can see, I’m not quite finished with the grey scale interior, if I ever will be. I love stylings like these, and would love for my own home to look just a fraction like these. I’ll keep dreaming and collecting images for inspiration. Have a wonderful weekend <3
