Creating a cozy bedroom ready for fall

Cozy bedroom final

I don’t know about you, but I love fall. Actually it’s my favourite season. I love how the city changes and everything turns from green to beautiful red and orange colors. But for me, fall is also about making our home cozy and ready for the winter. Therefore, it’s time to dig out all of those warm blankets from the attic and start decorating for fall.

How to get your bedroom ready for fall
On top of my list this fall is the bedroom. I agree with the sleep experts at the mattress company Casper that the bedroom should be nice and cozy, and not filled with all the junk, you don’t know where else to put. So if you haven’t gotten rid of that, now is the time. In other words, it’s time to make your bedroom the most comfortable and coziest room in the home.

We spend a third of our lives in bed, and what is more appealing than to sleep in when it’s cold outside? In order to fully recharge your batteries and be able to relax, you need a cozy atmosphere in your bedroom.

A room made for relaxing times
For me to relax, I need my bedroom to be tidy and spacious. Preferably without to much clutter to distract me. My bedroom is a place for meditation and relaxing. Therefore, I don’t have a TV in there either. But calming music and candles are welcome. As you can see, my style is very Scandinavian – I love to surround myself with beautiful nordic design. It has a calming effect on me, because of the color scale.

This fall I’m thinking about painting one wall in the bedroom. I’m thinking moss green. I’ve been quite smitten by that color for quite some time now. To get a more green feel to the room, I’ve added a few of my baby Pilea plants. This fall the bedroom will be ready for me to put on warm socks, a nice scarf and just drink my morning coffee in bed while reading a book.

I’ve collected some key items that would turn my bedroom into my cozy spot.

Wishlist for my new hallway

I’ve decided to make a few changes in our hallway. It’s old, dark red, green and gold coloured, and some of it belongs to the old lady living downstairs. Therefore, I cannot change the whole thing just yet. But what I can do is to make a few changes outside my main entrance.

Hallway-web Therefore, I’ve created this collage with some of the things I want to buy to make it feel more like the onside of our home.

One wall is painted grey, and I want to place these things on or in front of that wall.

For years we’ve had the Kubik bookcases from Trævarefabrikernes udsalg. They’ve been used in almost every room in our old home as well as our current home. It’s not too deep, and with a few small storage boxes, it will be perfect for hats, mittens, rain coats and other stuff for the kids.

With two adults and two kids in the house, we really need storage space. We’ve got a ton of shoes. I’m looking for a shoe rack for the one pair of shoes we use the most. The one from Normann Copenhagen has been on my list for some time now.

I would love to add a mirror out there as well. I’ve found this one on Ellos, and it’s not that expensive. No more getting out of the door with messy hair.

The rose Muuto dots would look great on the grey wall, and I would use them for tote bags. To add a bit more rose colour out there, I would like to add the Vee Speers The Birthday Party on the wall as well.

For my kitchen

I’ve been in Aarhus/Odder all weekend. First, some much needed time in Aarhus with my son’s mothers’ group yesterday. We left the kids at home, relaxed, walked around the city, visited Aros, ate cakes, sandwiches and drank coffee in the city. After that I went to Odder to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. The kids and my husband were already there. Even more delicious food on the table  and the kids played outside in a treehouse. We returned home this morning and I’ve been trying to get some things done before another busy week begins.

I’m dreaming of adding a few new things in our kitchen. Inspired by our little trip yesterday, my new coffee book by The Coffee Collective and some things I’ve added to my wish list, well I’ve put together this little list.

Light a candle

It’s time to enjoy the company of your family inside. And what could be more cozy than to light candles all over the home? I put some of mine away for the summer, but it’s time to bring them out of their hiding place. I’ve found a few new ones – and I might buy the christmas light from Normann Copenhagen again this year.

Wishlist

It’s getting warmer outside and I’m loving every bit of it. I want to redecorate our place and get ready for evenings in the sun and brighter colours around the house. I’ve created a small wishlist.

Normann Copenhagen love

I haven’t been blogging much this year, I know. I’m hoping that things will change, and I’ll be able to focus more on Espresso Moments again. I miss is so much, and not a day goes by without me thingking about writing a post. My mind is just someplace else these days – searching for some answers.

So while my mind is working overtime, I’ll just share a few lovely things – some of them from the new Normann Copenhagen collection – and one of them is an oldie. Enjoy and have a wonderful Sunday.
